Children’s Car Seats

ACRI Accredited Member & Fitter since 2006 - Audited Annually

80% of car seats are being used incorrectly

Unfortunately, this statistic has remained high for over 30 years with no sign of improvement, so we need to keep asking questions about how to keep our little ones safest in the car.

For over a decade Just Juniors have been providing information, education and installation services for families in the Wimmera who want to be sure they’ve got it right.

Whether you have your first baby on the way or you have a large family to move about, we can offer you an individual solution to suit you and your vehicle. We have extensive experience with installations in twin cab utilities and four wheel drives and can audit car seats for family day care providers.

We stock a range of capsules, car seats and booster seats from Safe n Sound, Infa, Maxi Cosi and Steelcraft.

We recommend that you try seats in your vehicle to check that they are a good fit and we are more than happy to offer this service.

Appointments may be booked week days between 9.00 am to 11.45 am and 1.00pm to 5.00pm

Victorian Car Seat Safety Legislation

Children from birth to 4 years

Children under 6 months

Children aged under 6 months must use a rear facing child restraint.

Children aged 6 months to 4 years

Children aged 6 months to under 4 years must use either:

We recommend that you try seats in your vehicle to check that they are a good fit and we are more than happy to offer this service.

  • A rear facing child restraint , or
  • A forward facing child restraint with an inbuilt harness.

Children of this age grow at different rates. Therefore you need to choose the type of restraint that is best for your child's size.

Even if your child is 6 months old they may not be ready to travel in a forward facing child restraint. We recommend you keep your child in their rear facing restraint until they are too big for it.

Child restraints must be the right size for a child, properly adjusted and fastened, and correctly fitted to the vehicle.

Children aged between 4-7 years

If your child is aged between 4-7 years, they must travel in a forward facing child restraint or a booster seat. The type will depend on their age and size.

Children aged 4 years to less than 7 years must use either:

  • A forward facing child restraint with an inbuilt harness, or
  • A booster seat.

Children grow at different rates and there can be big differences in their heights and weights. Therefore you can choose the type of restraint that is best for your child's size.

Even if your child is 4 years old they may not be ready to travel in a booster seat. We recommend you keep your child in their forward facing restraint with an inbuilt harness until they are too big for it and then move to a booster seat.

We have been actively advocating extended rear facing and best practice child safety for many years and it’s safe to say we take car safety for children very seriously.

Our ACRI Accreditation and 12 years of experience assist us in finding practical solutions for families. If we are faced with a particularly difficult vehicle set up we have access to prompt ACRI consultancy to help us find a solution.
